Consistent service, reliable results

This was my third time using Writer's Pocket, and honestly, the process for my latest manuscript submission was just as smooth as before. I used their Book Publishing Service again, and everything went according to their usual timeline. It's why I keep coming back; I know what to expect and they deliver.

Easy to use, quick start

I decided to try Writer's Pocket after hearing about it. I just wanted to get my manuscript out there without a ton of fuss. Submitting my manuscript was really easy, didn't take long at all. The Author Account setup was quick too. Everything just felt straightforward. Got my Paperback Publishing started without any headaches, which was a relief.

Good overall, minor delay

I used Writer's Pocket for their Book Publishing Service and included the Cover Design Services. The cover came out really well, exactly what I envisioned. The overall process was pretty straightforward. My one critique would be that the E-book Conversion took a couple of days longer than the estimate. Not a huge deal, but I was eager to get it out. Value for money was decent, though.

Is Writer's Pocket legit? Like, I see some other platforms out there, but this one looks pretty comprehensive. Just trying to avoid any shady deals for my first book.

Yeah, they're legit. I used them for my last book and it's all above board. You retain your rights, which was a big one for me.

Totally legit. They're not like some of those predatory vanity presses. My experience with their distribution and sales tracking has been pretty transparent. A friend used them and Lulu, and said WP felt more hands-on.

Hey, thinking about using Writer's Pocket for my first novel. Anyone know if they ever do discounts for new authors, or should I just go for it now?

D David Osei 2 months ago
Yeah, I actually got a 'first-time author offer' email after I signed up for their newsletter. It was like $100 off a package, so worth waiting a bit or checking your inbox if you've already registered.

They definitely have seasonal sales too, I saw one around November last year. Not sure if it applies to first-timers specifically, but you might catch a general publishing package discount.

thinking about getting the developmental editing. does anyone know what their refund policy is for services like that? just in case it's not what i expect.

J June 2 months ago
I think for services once they start working on it, refunds get tricky. You'd probably have to check their 'refund policy for publishing services' on the site, but I imagine it's prorated or partial if work has begun.

My understanding is that you can cancel manuscript submissions if they haven't started processing, but for editing, once the editor is assigned and starts, it's probably non-refundable or you only get a percentage back. I'd definitely read the fine print before committing.

how does Writer's Pocket compare to like, Kindle Direct Publishing? i'm weighing options for an ebook and paperback.

M Megan B. 1 month ago
KDP is more DIY, you do pretty much everything yourself. Writer's Pocket offers a lot more services like editing, cover design, and marketing if you want to pay for them. It depends on how much help you need vs. how much you want to spend.

I'd say KDP is great if you're confident handling all the formatting and don't need much support. Writer's Pocket is more like a full-service option for authors who want a bit more hand-holding through the publishing process, especially with things like interior formatting and distribution beyond just Amazon.

what's the deal with their publishing process timeline? i'm trying to get a book out before christmas, is that even realistic if i start now?

L Lisa 1 month ago
Honestly, 'how long does the publishing process take' is a bit of a moving target. It really depends on the services you pick. If you're doing a full edit, cover, and formatting, it's not super quick. I'd say a few months at least to do it properly.

G Gwen 1 month ago
My paperback took about 3-4 months from submission to actually holding it in my hands, and that was with minimal revisions. Christmas might be tight if you're just starting now, unless you already have a perfect manuscript ready to go.
